“Change” – Poem for Occupy Central 28/9/2014

A city of promise,

A corrupting metropolis,

A population torn at the seams.

A vow of democracy,

A pledge of liberty,

an old order; a new regime.

One struggle for rights,

One reluctant to fight,

Shields out, tears ready, they rise.

“Disperse or we fire”,

Won’t drown the sounds of the choir,

You may try but you won’t silence our cries.

A fragrant harbor,

the dreams she once labored,

perhaps forgotten are the roots it rose from.

My home Hong Kong,

all lost, long gone,

I’ll see you til kingdom come.
